The National Archives is, by law, entitled to receive legal deposit of Namibian government publications. All Namibian official publications are catalogued in the NML and ARCAT databases. There are three series of official publications: AP, LAP and IOR.

It should be noted that only certain types of official publications are shelved into these series and entered into their respective finding aids, while the rest – especially many monograph publications - is shelved in the various series of the general Archives Library. Also, a few periodicals – in particular, some UN periodicals – are shelved within private accessions. Their location is indicated in the electronic library catalogues.
